Marissa Martin

Marissa Martin also known as Oh, Sun Hee, was adopted from Korea when she was six months old. She grew up in New Hope, Pennsylvania and graduated from American University with a degree in Sociology and Communications. Marissa has always been interested in social policy and post adoption services and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in social work at Hunter College.

She has been actively involved in the international adoptee community for over 10 years as a counselor, Assistant Director and Co-Director of the CIT Program at Holt Heritage Camp and Assistant Director of KIDS Teen Camp in Seattle, WA. She has been an active member of the IKAA Committee and helped plan the 2009 IKAA Mini Gathering in NYC and the 2010 IKAA Gathering in Korea.

This is Marissa's fifth year on the board and she is excited for another great year!

Annabel Schlossberg

Annabel Schlossberg has been a member of Also-Known-As since 2005, and on the board of directors since 2008. She has been involved with the Youth Mentorship Program since joining Also-Known-As, and has directed the program since 2008. Currently she is the Vice President of Also-Known-As. Annabel was adopted from Seoul, South Korea when she was three months old and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Annabel graduated from Binghamton University and currently works in the financial services industry.

Geanna Barlaam

Geanna was adopted from Korea at four months old and has taken an active interest in her adoption and the adoptee community for the past several years. After attending Georgetown University as an art history major, Geanna went on to pursue her Master’s degree at the Christies Education program in London. Geanna has both attended and worked at Holt Heritage Camps across the country; in the summer of 2004, she was able to attend Holt Summer School in Korea and participated in the IKAA Gathering in Seoul.

After joining Also-Known-As in 2008, Geanna became a mentor for the organization’s Teen Mentorship Program. The following year, she began serving as Secretary on the Board of Directors and currently manages the Also-Known-As Speaker’s Bureau.

Mark was adopted from Korea when he was 4 yrs old and grew up in Jackson, TN and Lincoln, RI and resides in NJ with his wife Ji-yeon, daughter Jeana and son Samuel. He has been a member of Also-Known-As since it was founded in 1996 and serves as the Treasurer. He has served as our web editor, Motherland Visit Director and liaison to the Korean American community and shared his adoption experiences through many speaking engagements.

Susan Becker

Susan Becker was adopted from Seoul, Korea at the age of 4 ½ months. She was raised in Northern New Jersey with strong ties to the Korean American Adoptee community attending regional cultural events and camps since she was a baby. Susan visited Korea for the first time in 1995. She has returned 7 more times since then, most recently to study the Korean language at Ewha University and to attend the 2007 and 2010 IKAA Gatherings. She currently works as a business analyst / project manager in Hoboken, NJ.

Beth Sackovich

 

Beth has been a member of Also-Known-As and a mentor for the Teen Mentorship Program since 2009. This is her second year serving on the Board of Directors and she looks forward to fostering a professional networking/development program after the success of the first professional networking event this past summer as well as continuing to have a positive impact on AKA.

Beth was adopted from South Korea, along with her identical twin sister, Jane, at seven months old. She grew up in Delaware and attended Harvard University where she played Division I field hockey and graduated with an A.B. in Sociology. In addition to the time she spends on the AKA Board, she is also chair of the Finance Career Interest Group at the Harvard Club of New York. Beth has been living in NYC since 2006 and works at an investment management firm.
